Mirinda Brown Tyo, PhD, RN, TCRN is an Assistant Professor, Nursing and Health Sciences. She earned her ADN from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, BSN and MSN from the University of North Alabama, and PhD from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Dr. Tyo is a Trauma Certified Registered Nurse. She serves on the governance committee of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Theta Kappa Chapter. Teaching areas include NUR 250 Knowledge Foundations in Nursing, NUR 326 Care of Adults Acute and Chronic, NUR 553 Pharmacology Advance Nursing Practice, and NUR 455 Senior Mentorship. Research interests include caregiver burden and resilience associated with substance use disorder, transition-to-practice, and clinical reasoning in nursing.
